Chupir Char is also known as Chatiganga to local people. This place is a horseshoe shaped lake flowing into Hooghly river. Various species of migratory birds can be seen here in winter. Take a boat out on the lake early in the morning for bird watching. The cost of boating is Tk 150 per hour.
Anandnagar tourist center has been developed with these two places Chupir Char and Kashtashthali. About 70 species of birds come and camp here from December to March. It takes six to seven hours to explore the entire lake. Diver duck, pankauri, maschranga, sand duck, sral, buck, suchipuchch and many other known and unknown birds can be seen here.
Kolkata to Chupir Char distance: The train journey time between Kolkata and Purbasthali is around 2h 50m and covers a distance of around 116 km. Operated by Indian Railways, the Kolkata to Purbasthali train service departs from Howrah Jn and arrives in Purbasthali. Typically 70 trains run weekly, although weekend and holiday schedules can vary so check in advance.
Chupir Char nearest railway Station: Burdwan Junction
Travel – from Sealdah or Howrah to Katwa local should get down at Purvasthali station. After Nabadwip station leave two stations to Purvastali. Chupir Char is 20 minutes away from the station. If you come by car from Kolkata, you have to come to Nabadwip via Krishnanagar via National Highway No. 34. From there you can reach Parulia Junction.
