Aviation News- A SpiceJet aircraft survived a major accident in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday. As soon as the plane going from Kolkata to Bangkok took off, the pilot saw one of the engine blades broken. He immediately informed the air traffic control about the incident and got the plane back to Kolkata airport for an emergency landing. The passengers were later flown to Bangkok in another flight on Monday morning. The crashed plane is being investigated. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has sought a report on the entire incident.
The flight left at 1 in the night
SpiceJet’s Kolkata-Bangkok flight took off from Kolkata’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Airport at around 1.09 am on Sunday-Monday. Flight SG83 Boeing 737 had 178 passengers and 6 cabin crew staff. After going some distance, the pilot heard a strange sound in the engine. He saw that one blade of the engine was broken. After this, he immediately informed the air traffic control. Air traffic control declared Emergency Protocol at Kolkata Airport. Due to the possibility of any accident on the landing of the flight, teams of fire brigade, ambulance and CISF were also deployed.
The plane landed back at the airport at 1.27 pm
The pilot also informed the passengers in the aircraft about the emergency landing. After this, at around 1.27 pm, the aircraft made an emergency landing back at the airport. Immediately all the passengers and cabin crew were taken out of the flight and sent to the safe zone. After this, a complete investigation of the aircraft was done and it was announced to remove the emergency protocol at 2 o’clock in the night. Airport officials said that after arranging another plane for the passengers, they were sent to Bangkok at 7.10 am on Monday. Complete technical investigation of the damaged aircraft is being done.
